(Eagle News) — It’s a “desperate” stunt.
This was how the camp of Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno described lawyer Larry Gadon’s filing of a criminal complaint against her on Friday.
“Indeed, desperate times call for desperate measures,” Atty. Josa Deinla, one of the Chief Justice’s spokespersons, said in a statement.
She said Gadon filed the complaint because he “knows that he still has nothing on the Chief Justice after all the undeserved attention that his (impeachment) complaint has been given.”
“We are confident that (Gadon) will fall flat doing this latest stunt,” Deinla said.
Gadon said he filed the criminal complaint before the Department of Justice over Sereno’s alleged non-filing of her Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth for 17 years.
This was apart from the impeachment complaint filed by Gadon against Sereno.
The House justice panel is holding hearings to determine whether there was probable cause for the impeachment complaint.
