NEW YORK, United States (AFP) — New York Knicks star Kristaps Porzingis hobbled out of his team’s 103-89 defeat to the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday after suffering an injury to his left leg.

Porzingis appeared to sustain the knock when he landed after a dunk in the second quarter.

He slumped to the court clutching his left leg before limping off the court and playing no further part in the game.

Reports later said Porzingis had been taken to hospital for an MRI scan on his left knee, although he was walking unassisted when he left the stadium.

The popular Latvian star is averaging just under 23 points per game this year, with 6.7 rebounds and 2.4 blocks.

He is due to play in the All-Star game later this month for LeBron James team.
