(Eagle News)–The Senate committee on ethics junked on Tuesday the cases filed by former Customs Chief Nicanor Faeldon against Senators Panfilo Lacson and Antonio Trillanes IV.
Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon moved to dismiss the ethics cases that were filed after Lacson and Trillanes accused Faeldon of being linked to corruption in the Bureau of Customs.
Drilon said Faeldon’s move against Lacson was a “clear case of forum shopping” since the Lacson’s allegations the former Customs chief received a P100-million “welcome gift” from Customs stakeholders were already being investigated by the blue ribbon committee.
“You know, Mr. Faeldon does not exactly come to the committee with clean hands…If anyone has abused his right to criticize public officials, Faeldon is as guilty as anybody…” Drilon said of Faeldon’s case against Trillanes.
All the members of the panel voted to junk the cases, except Lacson, who inhibited from voting.
