Dela Rosa: PNP has leads on whereabouts of Demafelis’ recruiters

(Eagle News) — The Philippine National Police has leads on the location of the recruiters of Overseas Filipino Worker Joanna Demafelis.

This is according to PNP Chief Ronald dela Rosa, who spoke in a press conference on Monday.

Dela Rosa, however, refused to elaborate what information the Criminal Investigation of Detection Group had for fear disclosing such would disrupt police operations.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III has said the recruiters of Demafelis, who was found in a freezer in an abandoned apartment in Kuwait, would be held “civilly” and “administratively” liable.

Demafelis’ former  employers, a Lebanese and his Syrian wife, have been arrested.

Reports said the couple fled the apartment as early as 2016.

The Department of Labor and Employment has imposed a total ban on the deployment of OFWs to Kuwait following Demafelis’ death, and reports of OFW abuse in the Middle Eastern country.
