Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque Jr., said that the Palace is open to listen to the testimony of former Metro Rail Transit (MRT) general manager Al Vitangcol III on the allegation of corruption in the controversial P3.8-billion deal for the maintenance of the MRT-line 3.
Roque revealed that he had a meeting with undersecretary for Legal Affairs and Procurement Reinier Paul Yebra regarding this.
He said that the statement of Vitangcol could help the government to develop additional charges against individuals who should be made accountable for the MRT-3’s woes.
“I am able to confirm that I had a meeting with the Usec (Undersecretary) for Legal for DOTr and we will listen to what Al Vitangcol has to say to corroborate the statements of whistleblowers who have already communicated with me,” Roque said during a Palace briefing.
“I do not know what he has to say but… we will listen to what Al Vitangcol has to say,” he said.
The official clarified that Vitangcol was not among the whistle-blowers he had earlier mentioned who had approached him and tipped him off about the corruption in the MRT-Line 3.
