Pulse Asia: More than half of Filipino voters already have 12 preferred bets for 2019 senatorial polls

(Eagle News) — More than half of Filipinos already have 12 preferred candidates for the next senatorial elections, even with the polls still far away.

This is according to results of a survey conducted by Pulse Asia, and which were released on Friday, April 20.

Results of the survey conducted from March 23 to 28 showed that 57 percent of the 1,200 adult respondents have chosen their candidates for the May 2019 senatorial elections.

According to Pulse Asia, only 0.5 percent of Filipinos do not know whom to vote for.

If elections were held today, Senator Grace Poe would be ranked number one, with 70.8% of votes.

Pulse Asia said that in 2nd to 3rd places are Senator Cynthia Villar (55.6%) and Taguig City Rep. Pia Cayetano (53.8%).

Senator Nancy Binay is in 4th to 6th places (45.8%) ,while Senator Edgardo Angara, Jr. (44.9%) and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio (43.8%) share the 4th to 7th places.

Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III would be ranked in 5th to 9th places (39.8%).

According to Pulse Asia, former Senator Sergio Osmena  would be ranked in 7th to 10th places (38.0%);  Erwin Tulfo in 7th to 13th places (36.7%) ; former Senator Lito Lapid in 8th to 15th places (33.8%); former Philippine National Police Chief Ronald dela Rosa in 8th to 15th places ((33.1%,); former Senator Jinggoy Estrada in 8th to 15th places (32.8%);  Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos in 9th to 15th places (32.2%); Senator Paolo Benigno Aquino in 10th to 19th places  (30.5%); and  Senator JV Ejercito in 10th to 19th places (29.0%).

The survey was conducted nationwide using face-to-face interviews.

Error margin is pegged at ± 3 percent at the 95 percent confidence level.

Sub-national estimates’ error margin was pegged at ± 6 percent at the 95 percent confidence level.
