“Karaming madre diyan,” Duterte says on CBCP’s request for Australian nun Fox to be allowed to stay in PHL

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte appeared to have rejected the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines’ call for Australian nun Patricia Fox to be allowed to stay in the country.

“Karaming madre diyan. May mga madre pa sa bukid,”  Duterte said on Wednesday, May 2, after he was reported to have met with lawyers from his alma mater San Beda College.

The lawyers were allegedly asked by the CBCP to appeal the Bureau of Immigration’s order for Fox to leave the country for her participation in “political partisan activities” in violation of immigration laws.

Fox was arrested by immigration agents on April 16, after the bureau found she had violated the terms of her missionary visa.

The bureau forfeited Fox’s visa and asked her to leave the country within 30 days after receipt.

Fox has a pending deportation case.
