Teo camp denies President Duterte asked her to resign amid P60-million ad placement controversy

(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte did not ask Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo to resign.

This is according to her lawyer, Ferdinand Topacio, who issued a statement after a media report said the chief executive made the request following a  Commission on Audit report that red-flagged the Department of Tourism’s  P60-million placement of advertisements in Teo’s brothers’ program on PTV 4.

“Not true. No such demand from the President for Sec. Teo to hand in her resignation,” Topacio said.

It was the Philippine Star that reported that  Duterte had asked Teo to resign following the controversy.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said he had no information about the matter, but confirmed Duterte had a “serious” talk with Teo after the Cabinet meeting on Monday, May 8.
