(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte has accepted Cesar Montano’s resignation as chief operating officer of the Tourism Promotions Board.
“Yes he has accepted it,” Special Assistant to the President Bong Go said in a text message on Monday, May 21.
Montano resigned after he was criticized for the TPB’s “Buhay Carinderia” program.
New Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said the project did not undergo a bidding.
Montano also came under fire for the TPB’s payment of P80 million–or 90 percent of the total sponsorship—to ad agency Marylindbert International despite the project not being completed.
Montano has blamed his then-boss Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo for the mess.
Teo resigned following another ad placement agency controversy.
