(Eagle News) — The Philippines will acquire technology that is capable of determining whether reports China had set up missile installations in South China Sea reefs Manila is claiming are true.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, the technology will be procured in August.

“It will be delivered within the year,” Roque said.

Roque did not elaborate.

Reports have described China’s supposed militarization in the South China Sea as “aggressive,” with the Asian giant’s most recent act involving the deployment of bombers on Woody Island.

The island in the South China Sea is also being claimed by Vietnam and Taiwan.

On Tuesday, May 22, the President said that while it wanted to assert the Philippines’ claims, it does not want to go to a “war we cannot win.”
