House approves proposed BBL on third and final reading

(Eagle News) — The House of Representatives on Wednesday, May 30, approved on third and final reading a proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law.

The substitute to House Bill 6475 was approved on third reading since it was certified as urgent by President Rodrigo Duterte.

Earlier, the House passed the measure on second reading, with a vote of  226-11, with two lawmakers abstaining.

The President has also certified as urgent the Senate’s counterpart of the law.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said Duterte would sign the Senate and House reconciled version of the BBL.

Both houses of Congress are expected to reconcile their versions of the BBL during the congressional break.
