(Eagle News) — “Henry” has intensified into a tropical storm and is now outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

Although signal number one has been lifted over the Babuyan Group of Islands and the northern portion of Ilocos Norte, the southwest monsoon will bring monsoon rains over Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro Provinces, Palawan and Western Visayas, and scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over the rest of the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said in its recent bulletin.

PAGASA said it was also monitoring, as of 10 a.m., a low pressure area 915 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan, which may develop into a tropical depression in the next 36 hours.

“Residents of (these specified) areas, especially those living in low-lying and mountainous areas, are advised to continue monitoring for updates, coordinate with their local disaster risk reduction and management offices, and take appropriate actions against possible flooding and landslides,” PAGASA said.
