(Eagle News) — The rains brought by “Inday” and the southwest moonson have a positive effect on the situation of dams in Luzon.
Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Servicesn Administration Hydrologist Elmer Caringal said the recent heavy to intense rains have been filling the water reservoirs and dams, particularly the Angat Dam that is supplying water to Metro Manila.
Caringal said that the Angat Dam water level has reached 192.98 meters.
Although this is still far from its normal elevation of 210 meters, Caringal said that this is enough to supply water in Metro Manila.
The water levels in Binga, Magat, San Roque, Pantabangan and Ambuklao dams have also increased.
PAGASA, however, clarified that the water level in the said dams are are still far from their critical level, or spilling level.
“Medyo malaki pa pong ulan ang kailangan para po mareach nya yung spilling level o yung spilling elevation ng mga dam natin. Kaya wala pa po tayong pangamba na posible pong magpakawala ng tubig sa mga dam natin,” Caringal said in an interview over Net 25’s Agila Balita Alas Dose.
