(Eagle News)—-Tropical Depression “Josie” is now traversing the Babuyan Group of Islands, moving in an east northeast direction slowly.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said that as of 1 a.m., the center of the tropical depression was situated 25 kilometers east southeast of Calayan, Cagayan.
It is packing maximum sustained winds of 60 kilometers per hour near the center, and gustiness of up to 80 kilometers per hour.
PAGASA predicts “Josie” will leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Monday morning.
Signal No. 1 is hoisted over Batanes, northern Cagayan including the Babuyan Group of Islands, Ilocos Norte, the northern portion of Ilocos Sur, Apayao and the northern portion of Abra, while scattered to widespread moderate to heavy rains will prevail over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Batanes, Babuyan Group of Islands, Zambales, Tarlac and Nueva Ecija.
PAGASA said scattered light to moderate with occasional heavy rains are meanwhile expected over Metro Manila, Calabarzon, the rest of Central Luzon and Cagayan Valley and Mindoro.
Sea travel remains risky over the seaboards of northern Luzon and the western seaboard of Central Luzon, especially in areas where a Signal Number 1 is hoisted, PAGASA said.
