“Josie” maintains strength as it moves toward PHL Sea; Signal No. 1 hoisted over two areas

(Eagle News)–Tropical Depression “Josie”  maintained its strength as it moved toward the Philippine Sea on Sunday, July 22, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

PAGASA said as of 7 a.m., the center of “Josie” was situated 85 kilometers east northeast of Basco, Batanes.

“Josie” is packing maximum sustained winds of 60 kilometers per hour near the center, and gustiness of up to 75 kilometers per hour.

Batanes and the Babuyan Group of Islands are under a Tropical Cyclone Signal Number One, as the tropical depression moves northeast at 35 kilometers per hour.

Signal Number One over Cagayan has been lifted.

The southwest monsoon will bring monsoon rains over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, the rest of Cagayan Valley, Mindoro, Rizal, Cavite and Batangas.

Sea travel remains risky over the seaboards of northern Luzon and the western seaboard of Central Luzon, PAGASA said.
