1 policeman in kidnap-for-ransom group killed, 3 others nabbed in Taguig

(Eagle News) — One policeman was killed and three others were arrested after they figured in an encounter with fellow policemen who were out to arrest them for alleged kidnap-for-ransom activities.

A police report said suspect PO1 Gererdo Ancheta was killed after he, PO2 Joey Maru, PO1 Bryan Amir Bajoof and PO1 Paolo Ocampo fired at the members of the the Taguig City Police Special Drug Enforcement Unit and Special Operations Unit who had set up an entrapment operation against them.

The operation was set up after Ronielyn Caraecle told the police the group barged into his house on Viscara Street, New Lower Bicutan, Taguig City around midnight on Monday, took her valuables worth P7,000, and abducted her boyfriend Samuel.

She said they demanded P50,000 in exchange for his freedom.

Caraecle, the report said, was able to pay P20,000.

On Monday night, the group allegedly managed to extort P50,000 from one Moreen del Castillo.
