(Eagle News) — Around 10,000 passengers can now use the Caloocan to Dela Rosa, Makati line of the Philippine National Railways.
Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade said six trains with a total capacity of 700 to 800 were deployed during the reopening of the line on Wednesday, Aug. 1.
PNR General Manager Junn Magno said the line had been rehabilitated as it was “heavily damaged because of water intrusion.”
“This is a good opportunity for us to make use of what is already there – aayusin na lang kung kailangan. Hindi lang ito dagdag serbisyo sa publiko, kundi dagdag-kita rin sa gobyerno,” Tugade said.
The Department of Transportation said the line “shall be operational until the construction of the PNR Manila-Clark Railway line (is done) in full blast.”
