(Eagle News) — Construction of the P350-billion Metro Manila subway will start “not later than December this year,” Transportation Secretary Art Tugade said on Wednesday, Aug. 1.

According to Tugade, “uumpisahan natin iyong construction doon sa partial operability sa tatlong istasyon, saan ito – North Avenue, Mindanao Avenue, Tandang Sora.”

He said the Valenzuela City depot and the Philippine Railway Institute will also be constructed not later than December.

He said the process was fast-tracked, with the parties involved agreeing to start the project.

The entire railway system, which is expected to address road congestion in Metro Manila, is expected to be completed in 2025.
