NEW YORK, United States (AFP) — A small plane carrying US rapper Post Malone was forced to make an emergency landing at a New York state airport on Tuesday after two of its tires blew out during takeoff, aviation authorities said.
The Gulfstream G-IV jet took off for London at 10:50 am local time at Teterboro Airport, located some 50 kilometers (30 miles) from New York, the Federal Aviation Authority said.
According to the FAA and the FlightRadar website, the plane, which was carrying a total of 16 people on board according to celebrity news site TMZ, went around in several circles in order to drain its fuel reserves before landing at Stewart airport, about 100 kilometers (60 miles) from New York city, close to 4:00 pm.
The 23-year-old, who won “Song of the Year” on Monday night’s MTV video awards for “Rockstar,” tweeted: “i landed guys. thank you for your prayers. can’t believe how many people wished death on me on this website.”
