(Eagle News) — Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana on Thursday, Aug. 23, confirmed the Philippines’ planned purchase of submarines was discussed in his recent trip to Russia.
Although the Russians “know that we are shopping,” Lorenzana said they know the Philippines “has yet to decide where to buy” the military equipment.
Apart from Russia, Lorenzana said South Korea was also a “candidate.”
According to Lorenzana, during his meeting with the Deputy Defense Minister of Russia, they talked about “military-to-military relations.”
“Napag-usapan namin ang….palitan ng mga sundalo sa military training, port visits ng Navy ships to Vladivostok, participation in military exercises,” he said.
