Watch: Fire engulfs large portion of Eastern Samar town spared by “Ompong”

 

(Eagle News) — The town of Oras, a fourth class municipality in Eastern Samar, may have been spared by typhoon Ompong, but it did not escape a fire that engulfed a large portion of the town on Sunday, Sept. 16.

The fire also razed the town’s public market where people buy most of their food.

The fire lasted for four hours, starting at 1 a.m. when most of the townspeople are asleep, and ended at 5 a.m., Sunday.
