Guevarra: NBI has until Oct. 1 to submit initial findings on “Red October” plot

(Eagle News) — The National Bureau of Investigation has until October 1 to submit its findings on the supposed plot to oust President Rodrigo Duterte.

This is according to Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra, who said they were taking “this matter seriously..”

“(Because) Red October may actually involve commission of crimes punishable under our penal laws,” he said.

“The probe started immediately after talks about the plot started circulating,” Guevarra added.

The NBI has filed a complaint against members of a group allegedly linked to the plot.

Reports said NBI and  Philippine Army personnel swooped in on the members of the group based in Rizal on Tuesday, Sept. 25.

Authorities confiscated high-powered firearms that were allegedly labeled “war materials.”

Among those arrested were farm owner Ki Be E alias Lily Ong, who allegedly admitted some police officers  were being paid around P8,000 each month as protection money.
