(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday, Feb. 28, said he made “arrangements” for the Moro National Liberation Front’s Nur Misuari’s travel abroad.
“He was not allowed by the court to go out because he has pending charges when he was armed. So I had to make some arrangements. Sabi ko, this is a personal request of me, which I do not do at any time, at any other time. Sabi ko, papasukin — ah palabasin ninyo,” Duterte said.
Duterte made the revelation days after he revealed “rumblings” in the MNLF following the turnover of power to the Bangsamoro Transition Authority, whose members were mostly from the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.
On Monday, he met with Misuari in Malacañang.
Misuari, who is facing charges in connection with the Zamboanga siege in 2013 and graft and malversation charges, and charges for falsification of public documents over a supposedly anomalous purchase of educational materials when he was still the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao governor.
Misuari is set to travel abroad to attend the 46th session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Council of Foreign Ministers in the United Arab Emirates and the meeting of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States in Morocco.
