(Eagle News)—Majority of Filipinos believe the administration is serious in solving the issue of extrajudicial killings in the country, a recent Social Weather Stations survey said.
According to the Fourth Quarter 2018 Social Weather Survey conducted from December 16 to 19, 2018, the 71 percent of Filipinos who believe this was higher than the 63 percent registered in June 2017.
The SWS said the proportion of those who believe the administration is serious about solving the EJK problem was highest in Mindanao, at 75%, followed by Metro Manila at 73%, Balance Luzon at 71%, and the Visayas at 68%.
Those who think that the administration is not serious about solving EJK cases are highest in Metro Manila at 14%, followed by the Visayas at 14%, Mindanao at 11%, and Balance Luzon at 10%.
As for those undecided, the SWS said this was highest in Balance Luzon at 20%, followed by Visayas at 18%, Mindanao at 15%, and Metro Manila at 13%.
EJK victim
In the same survey, 78% say they are worried they will become an EJK victim, while 22% are not worried.
This was five points higher than the 73% who said they are worried in June 2017.
Twenty-seven percent had said they were not worried.
The 2018 survey found that worry about becoming victims of EJK is highest in the Visayas at 83%, followed by Metro Manila at 79%, Mindanao at 78% and Balance Luzon at 75%.
Fifty percent also said only the poor are the usual victims of EJK, 3% saying only the rich, and 48% saying the problem does not choose a class.
