(Eagle News)– Marawi City Vice Mayor Arafat Salic was arrested on Wednesday, March 13, over rebellion charges.
Army 103rd Infantry Brigade commander Colonel Romeo Brawner said Salic, who was included in the list of the Office of the Martial Law Administrator and had an arrest order dated Sept. 4, 2017, was nabbed at the Marawi City Hall around 10 a.m.
Apart from Salic, included in the arrest orders issued after the Marawi siege in May 2017 were over 300 people tagged as members of the Maute group, Abu Sayyaf, Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters and Maguid group.
They were accused of “sowing terror to the populace” with the common design or goal of allegedly committing rebellion “for the purpose of removing Mindanao from the territory of the Government of the Republic of the Philippines or its laws by establishing an independent Islamic State and/or deprive the Chief Executive of his powers and prerogatives as President of the Republic.”
