LAS VEGAS (Eagle News) – Jonathan Marchessault scored two goals and goalie Malcolm Subban saved 16 of 19 shots as the Vegas Golden Knights defeat the Edmonton Oilers 6-3 on Sunday.

The Golden Knights displayed their offense by scoring six goals and their defense by only allowing 19 shots the whole game.

Head Coach, Gerard Gallant took notice of the team’s momentum on the Oilers.

“I thought we played great tonight, we played fast and we played our game,” Coach Gerard Gallant stated.  “I thought our defense played a tight-gapped game, they did a good job on [the Oilers] top players. I was pleased with the way they played.”

With 10 games left of the regular season, the Golden Knights hope to punch their ticket to the playoffs in their second season in the league. Vegas sits third behind the Calgary Flames and the San Jose Sharks in Pacific Division and fifth overall in the Western Conference.

The Knights are among more than 20 teams still vying for the remaining 14 spots in this year’s quest for the Stanley Cup. The Tampa Bay Lightning and Calgary Flames have already clinched playoff berths.
