Embassy in Tripoli to Filipinos in Libya: Exercise caution, avoid unnecessary travel

(Eagle News)–The Philippine Embassy in Tripoli has advised Filipinos in Libya to be vigilant and “avoid unnecessary movement.”

The embassy issued the advisory in a Facebook post after the Presidential Council declared a state of emergency with the proclaimed advance of the Libyan National Army towards Tripoli.

The embassy said it also earlier monitored some isolated clashes outside the Libyan capital and troop movements in areas outside Tripoli.

“Until such time that the situation has normalized, the Embassy would like our kababayan to stay indoors, avoid public gatherings, and to follow the instructions of their employers,” the embassy said.

The embassy also advised Filipinos  to ensure they have “adequate food, water and other essential provisions.”

It said Filipinos who wish to be repatriated should immediately contact the embassy “so arrangements could be made for their travel home.”

“Other Filipinos who need assistance can contact the Embassy at +218.91.824.4208,” it said.
