(Eagle News)—Senator Antonio Trillanes IV has denied the allegations he was behind the video that linked former Davao Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte to illegal drugs.
“I really wish I was part of the making of the video so I could relish these moments but sadly I am not,” Trillanes said, congratulating those he said were behind the “Ang Totoong Narco-list” which he said showed a witness hurling “very serious, quite pointed and well-explained” accusations.
He said the “truth” has only “come to haunt” the President, the former Davao vice mayor’s father, whose “pretensions,” he said, were now being made public.
“Ikaw pala ang druglord all along. Tsk tsk. Ang dami mong pinapatay na mga Pilipino para lang malinlang ang buong sambayanan,” he said.
He said the chief executive would do well to face the accusations as “kahit bumula pa bibig mo sa galit, babalik at babalik yang issue na yan sa mukha mo.”
For this, he reiterated his call for the President to sign a bank secrecy waiver “para ipakita na hindi ka corrupt at hindi galing sa droga ang mga bilyon bilyon mo sa bangko.”
As for the presidential son, Trillanes had this to say: “Ikaw naman Polong, ipakita mo na lang ang likod mo, ang dami mo pang arte.”
“When you falsely accused me of having offshore bank accounts, I confronted it squarely and didn’t stop until I was able to debunk your lies. And when you realized na napatunayan ko na hindi totoo ang mga paratang mo, umatras ka at inamin na inimbento mo lang yun. Ano, ganun na lang yun? Until your next lie?” Trillanes said.
“In the meantime, I am looking forward, as everyone else, to the next episode,” he added.
In the video, a man wearing a yellow hoodie and who identified himself only as Bikoy accused the presidential son of using two code names allegedly to receive payoffs from a supposed drug syndicate.
The man, who said he used to handle the financial transactions of the syndicate until he left last year, said the money was deposited to Agriculture Undersecretary Waldo Carpio’s bank accounts.
Carpio is the brother of Manases Carpio, husband of presidential daughter and Davao Mayor Sara Duterte.
The video came out just as the former Davao vice mayor, who is running for a seat in the House of Representatives, was in the thick of campaigning.
Earlier, the President and his son accused Trillanes of being behind the video, which was uploaded on the News Balita Facebook account on Tuesday and shared in other social media.
The Palace has dismissed the video as mere black propaganda.
