(Eagle News)—President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday, April 13, reiterated his commitment to give back government land leased to entities to identified beneficiaries of the agrarian reform program.
“If they say they have invested so much, I don’t care,” he said in a speech in Bukidnon, referring to corporations that lease land from the government.
According to Duterte, in the first place, “the law must be followed.”
“The law says the land reform should benefit the agricultural tenant. That’s the law and there’s nothing I can do about it,” he said.
Earlier, amid the then-rehabilitation of Boracay, Duterte said he would give back the world-famous island to agrarian reform beneficiaries.
Duterte has also time and again instructed the Department of Agrarian Reform to complete the government’s land reform program.
