(Eagle News)—President Rodrigo Duterte skipped the gala dinner for heads of state attending the second Belt and Road forun in Beijing, China due to migraine.
This is according to Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, who issued a statement to reporters.
It was unclear if Duterte sent a representative to the gala.
Earlier in the day though, Duterte witnessed the signing of agreements between China and the Philippines, and, among others, spoke before a high-level meeting of world leaders.
Duterte also skipped several meetings during the 33rd Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit in Singapore last year but only after attending other meetings himself.
The Palace had said Duterte had to take power naps so he could catch up on some sleep.
