(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday, Sept. 4, ordered Bureau of Corrections Director-General Nicanor Faeldon to resign.
The President gave the order in a speech in Malacañang.
“I am demanding the resignation of Faeldon, immediately,” he said, noting that the BuCor official “disobeyed (his) order.”
Asked later if he was firing Faeldon, he said “Yes.”
Duterte also ordered over 1000 convicts of heinous crimes released under the Good Conduct Time Allowance law to surrender, and asked the Ombudsman to hold a probe.
The President’s order came following the release of three convicted in the rape-slay of the Chiong sisters and the near-release of former Calauan, Laguna Mayor Antonio Sanchez, who was convicted of the rape-slay of Eileen Sarmenta and the murder of her friend Allan Gomez in the 1990s.
