(Eagle News)–A 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck off Batanes on Thursday, Aug. 13.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which hit at 6:32 a.m., had its epicenter 49 kilometers southwest of Sabtang.
The earthquake was of tectonic origin, and had a depth of 14 kilometers.
No damage to property was expected but aftershocks were.
