Cloudy skies, rains expected in parts of PHL today

(Eagle News)–Cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers are expected over Visayas and Palawan, including the Kalayaan Group of Islands.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said this was due to the low pressure area situated 355 km east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte, and the southwest monsoon affecting the western section of Luzon.

PAGASA said Occidental Mindoro will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorms.

Moderate winds will prevail over Palawan including the Kalayaan Group of Islands and Occidental Mindoro, which will have  moderate seas.

Light to moderate winds will prevail over the Visayas, which will have  slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said.

Meanwhile, a rainfall advisory has been raised over Samar and nearby areas.

PAGASA said light to moderate with occasional heavy rains are expected over those areas within two to three hours.

These conditions are being experienced in Eastern Samar.

In Northern Luzon, PAGASA said  moderate to heavy rains are expected over Isabela (Dinapigue) within 30 minutes to an hour.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rains are being experienced over Isabela (San Mariano and Palanan).

The weather bureau said these conditions may persist within one to two hours and may affect nearby areas.

“All are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards,” PAGASA said.
