(Eagle News) — Over 300 Filipinos were repatriated from Oman in the Department of Foreign Affairs first chartered flight from the country.
In a statement, the DFA said 345 Filipinos had been stranded in Oman due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The flight, which arrived on Tuesday, July 27, included 10 minors, the DFA said.
Upon arrival, the repatriates underwent the medical protocols required by the Department of Health (DOH) and the Bureau of Quarantine.
They are also required to undergo a 14-day facility-based quarantine in accordance with the guidelines established by the Interagency Task Force.
The DFA said the quarantine facility and swab test were provided by the government for free.
All repatriates were also able to receive USD200 as reintegration assistance in line with the instructions of President Duterte and as recommended by the DFA Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr.
“Two (2) more repatriation flights are scheduled this 10 and 25 of August, congruent with the Department’s continuing commitment to bring home our Kababayans amidst the travel restriction due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic,” Arriola said.
“The Philippine Embassy in Muscat will continue to accept applications for the scheduled DFA repatriations in Oman,” the DFA added.
