Former Piddig, Ilocos Norte Mayor Guillen appointed acting NIA administrator

(Eagle News) — President Bongbong Marcos has appointed former Piddig, Ilocos Norte mayor Eduardo Guillen as the acting chief of the National Irrigation Administration.

Guillen replaced Benny Antiporda, who was placed under 6-month preventive suspension by the Office of the Ombudsman.

This was after several NIA employees filed a complaint against him for supposed grave misconduct.

The employees had alleged Antiporda used “retaliatory tactics” against NIA officials who recommended that past administrator Ricardo Visaya be retained on a holdover capacity.

Antiporda has said the charges against him were “malicious, misleading.”

“Pursuant to the provisions of the existing laws, you are hereby appointed acting administrator and member, Board of Directors, National Irrigation Administration, vice Benny D. Antiporda,” Guillen’s appointment paper read.
