MANILA, Aug. 9 (PNA) — Expect a weather improvement in most parts of the country as typhoon “Hanna” is already outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday.
In an interview, PAGASA weather observer Lenny Ruiz said typhoon “Hanna” left the PAR at around 3 p.m. on Saturday as it headed toward China.
Ruiz said that as the typhoon exited, the southwest monsoon has weakened but is still affecting Luzon and the Visayas.
He said that aside from partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains in the western sections of the country due to the southwest monsoon, the rest of the country will generally have sunny to partly cloudy skies with possible light rains in the afternoon or evening due to the possible formation of localized convection or thunderstorm.
For Sunday forecast, Ruiz said that occasional rains will be experienced over the Visayas and Mimaropa and the provinces of Zambales and Bataan while partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon and Mindanao.
In its advisory, PAGASA said moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over the entire archipelago with moderate to rough seas.
The state-run weather bureau also issued a gale warning due to the effects of the southwest monsoon enhanced by typhoon Hanna. The sea condition will be rough to very rough due to strong to gale force winds expected to affect the seaboards of Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboard of Central and Southern Luzon.
”Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves,” it warned. (PNA)
