AFP prepared for any scenario during APEC summit

Armed Forces of the Philippines Spokesman Colonel Restituto Padilla said government forces are prepared for any scenario during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation or APEC summit this week.

Nevertheless, he said they are making themselves more visible to prevent untoward incidents.

Padilla said they are carefully analyzing what happened to Paris to see if they have to adjust for things like that. But he said it seems that they have already covered such scenarios so they will just increase visibility in all areas.

The Philippine military has been on red alert since Saturday morning, a few hours after Islamic extremists launched simultaneous attacks in Paris and killed more than 132 people.

Padilla said the raising of the alert status was held a day earlier than scheduled as part of the preparations for the Philippines’ hosting of the APEC meet.(Eagle News Service)
