As of 11:00 am today, Typhoon Nona is about to make landfall over Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro.
Weather state bureau, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), said that ‘Nona’ was located in the vicinity of Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro today, carrying a maximum sustained winds of 140kph near the center and gustiness of up to 170kph.
It was forecast to move West at 15kph.
Estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to heavy within the 250km diameter of the typhoon.
Public Storm Warning Signal (PSWS) No. 3 is raised in Calamian group of Islands, Oriental Mindoro and Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Island.
Meanwhile, PSWS No. 2 is declared in Marinduque, Romblon, and Batangas.
PSWS No. 1 is raised in Metro Manila, Bataan, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Quezon, Burias Island and Northern Palawan including Cuyo Island.
Flash floods and landslide are expected over the areas under signal nos. 2 and 3 while storm surges of up to two meters are possible.
Nona is expected to cross Mindoro and will be over the West Philippine Sea this afternoon.
As of 8am today, a low pressure area (LPA) was estimated 1800km East of Southeast Mindanao. (PAGASA)
