Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen arrived in Thailand on Friday (December 18) on an official visit to the country.
Prime Minister Hun Sen was welcomed by Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha on the first day of his visit during which the two sides are expected to discuss border issues, economic and trade ties and regional connectivity.
Hun Sen’s first visit to Thailand in a decade is part of the celebration of the 65th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
Thailand and Cambodia have been locked for decades in a dispute over land surrounding the Preah Vihear temple. The International Court of Justice ruled in 2013 that Cambodia had sovereignty over the immediate area around the temple.
On Saturday (December 19), the second day of his two-day visit, Hun Sen is scheduled to co-chair the Thai-Cambodia Joint Cabinet Retreat.
Thailand and Cambodia are also expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on labour cooperation and an agreement on the employment of workers. (Reuters)
