Senate approves expanded maternity leave

The Senate approved the law that expands the maternity leave provided to female employees to 100 days. Senator Pia Cayetano, chairman of the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality, the current maternity leave is not at par with international standards which is 98 days.

Currently, government employees can avail of a 60-day maternity leave while those in the private sector can avail of 60-70 day maternity leave.
