MANILA, Philippines – With the worsening effects of the El Niño phenomenon being felt all over the Philippines, several government agencies started to set aside much-needed funds in order to counter its effects. The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources set aside Php 1 billion in order to aid more than 100, 000 fishermen in 58 provinces all over the country. The fund was set aside for livelihood projects as the yield of fish production is expected to drop due to the effect of the high temperature in the laying of fish eggs. On the other hand, the Sugar Regulatory Administration set aside Php 25. 9 million for cloud-seeding operations to bolster sugar production.
