In this report, Eagle Broadcasting Hawaii correspondent Alfred Acenas takes a closer look at the office of the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu.
Philippine Consul General Joselito Jimeno was assigned to Hawaii only in February this year (2018). He is the 19th Consul General of the Philippine Consulate General since it formally opened to the public on 16 November 1948.
Prior to coming to Honolulu, Mr. Jimeno, who holds the rank of Chief of Mission, Class I, was the Philippine Ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein from September 2015 to 4 February 2018. He has also served at various Philippine foreign service posts.
Before his posting in Berne, Switzerland, he served at Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs as Assistant Secretary of the Office of Strategic Planning and Policy Coordination (now called Office of Policy Planning and Coordination)
The jurisdiction of the Consulate General in Honolulu includes all the islands of the State of Hawaii, namely: Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, and Big Island or Hawaii. Also part of the jurisdiction are American Samoa and French Polynesia.
Recently, representatives of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) also paid a courtesy call to Consul General Jimeno. The INC representatives also informed the consul of the Church’s activities this year, which is also the 50th anniversary of the Iglesia Ni Cristo in the West, particularly in Hawaii where the first overseas congregation of the INC was established in 1968.
During the visit, Consul General Jimeno also extended his congratulations to the INC Executive Minister Brother Eduardo V. Manalo on his recent appointment as special envoy for Filipino concerns.
He also greeted Eagle Broadcasting Corporation on its 50th anniversary this April.
