QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is finalizing its recommendation on whether to extend martial law in Mindanao or not.
“Martial law, when it was imposed, provided a set of conditions that we should meet at the end of martial law,” AFP spokesman Brigadier General Restituto Padilla said in an article posted by CNN Philippines “The Source.”
“Now whether those conditions were met, whether those objectives were achieved is something that will be part of the assessment,” he said.
He also said that all of the inputs of the ground commanders in Marawi City were already collated and that AFP Chief of Staff General Eduardo Año, in his role as martial law implementer, would be the one to accomplish the recommendation and submit it to Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, who is the martial law administrator.
“Some of it is with General Año. I think he’s finalizing the report and putting his own input into the recommendations,” the AFP spokesperson said.
“It’s already being done and in a few days it will be submitted to the (Executive) Secretary for his consideration because he is the administrator of martial law. And that recommendation will make its way up to the Commander-in-Chief who will be provided an advance copy,” Padilla added.
Padilla also said that Lorenzana may add items in the recommendation.
