Aguirre should be made liable for disclosing wrong information – solon

QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre should be made liable for insinuating that there was a connection between opposition lawmakers and the Maute Group, according to Ifugao Rep. Teddy Baguilat.

Aguirre earlier alleged that minority lawmakers and some local leaders in Marawi City held a meeting early last month.

He claimed that the meeting could have “sparked the terrorist acts in Marawi.”

Baguilat said that if Aguirre had no evidence to support his allegations, he should be made liable for spreading wrong information.

Baguilat also described Aguirre as a “fabricator of dangerous lies.”  He said the Department of Justice secretary was abusing his position when he allegedly fabricated conspiracies to persecute members of the opposition.

Aguirre, on the other hand, said he was only misquoted by the media.
