QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) — Almost 2, 000 Albay residents have now contracted acute respiratory infection due to the ash fall from the Mayon Volcano.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council on Sunday announced that from only 516 acute respiratory infection victims, the cases now reached 1, 971.
The NDRRMC said that 66 % of the 3, 000 residents of Albay given medical assistance by the Department of Health now have respiratory infection.
Most of these people showed signs of fever and hypertension and are staying in evacuation centers.
