The Philippine National Police will no longer accept police trainees who will not pass the basic training meant for Special Action Force commandos.

Speaking in his first press conference as PNP chief, Police Director General Oscar Albayalde said after the training in the Philippine Public Safety College, all police recruits will be required to undergo the six-month training in basic internal security operation.

He said this was better than making the recruits undergo an internship in the police station where they can even learn to be corrupt from the very police officers who handle them.

According to Albayalde, even a civilian organization of the PNP needed to undergo military training.

“Nag-ooperate kami sa labas…so kailangan may military training..To develop discipline and their will to fight,” he said.
