MAY 13 (Reuters) — “American Idol” announced its fifteenth and final season on Fox. The announcement came via Twitter on Monday (May 11).
The show’s final season will premiere in January 2016.
Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr. and Keith Urban will return to judge the final season, along with host Ryan Seacrest.
“American Idol” was created by Simon Fuller and debuted in 2002. The show was based on Fuller’s popular British show “Pop Idol”.
The show’s original judges were Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson. Other judges have included Steven Tyler, Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj.
Some of the show’s contestants have gone on to fame and fortune including, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson. (New York, United States)
