The Philippines looks forward to deepening cooperation with China through the upcoming 25th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting, according to Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Communication Secretary Martin Andanar.
During an interview with China Central Television (CCTV), Andanar said the Philippines regards China as a sincere cooperation partner in the economic field.
“With respect to China’s policy in extending its economic foreign assistance to other countries that include the Philippines through the ‘One Belt, One Road’ and the ‘New Maritime Silk Road’ that China has established, it sits very well for the Philippines and China and other countries also that have the same policy in cooperating with China in terms of expanding its economy beyond its shores,” Andanar said.
As Chinese President Xi Jinping is scheduled to attend the meeting in Da Nang, Vietnam, Andanar explained that President Xi’s attendance, which comes shortly after the conclusion of the 19th CPC National Congress, is of great significance.
He noted Chinese President Xi’s call to build a community with shared future for mankind.
Andanar said the ideas of the Chinese leader were no longer confined to China only, but go beyond national boundaries to benefit the entire world.
“It is a welcome remark from President Xi Jinping that he is focusing on solving the problems of mankind. I think it is such a breakthrough in terms of leadership. To hear it from a ‘superpower’ president like Xi Jinping is such an inspiration,” the Palace official said.
