(Eagle News) — Former President Benigno Aquino III on Tuesday, July 17, said there was a lack of due process in the National Bureau of Investigation’s filing of a technical malversation complaint against him and several others over the Dengvaxia mess.
“Ang punto lang dito, to give your evidence on a certain investigation…pero ‘di mo matukoy sa pinadalang subpoena ano ‘yung nirereklamo sa’yo para masagot mo,” Aquino, who filed his rejoinder to the complaint also filed against then-Health Secretary Janette Garin, then-Budget Secretary Butch Abad and several officials of Sanofi Pasteur, among others, told reporters.
He added he was not informed of the complaint, which he learnt about only through the media.
“Meron ba talagang pagsusuring ginawa?” Aquino asked.
Meanwhile, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said it was possible the DOJ would consolidate the complaint filed by private individuals and groups and the charges filed by the NBI.
“Chances are, (at) DOJ ang consolidation dahil naunang na-file yung VACC complaint sa DOJ (The DOJ might be in charge of the consolidation since the VACC complaint was filed first at the DOJ,” Guevarra said in a text message sent to the Philippine News Agency.
“Take note that the motion to consolidate should come from any of the parties concerned,” he added.
