(Eagle News)– Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on Thursday, Aug. 30, expressed support for martial law in Mindanao, after the Palace floated the possibility of extending the same following the blast in Sultan Kudarat that killed at least three people.
“I support martial law in Mindanao,” she said.
She said she supports “what the President does because I’ve been President and I believe that he (President Rodrigo Duterte) doesn’t need a peanut gallery to tell him what to do.”
Earlier, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea and Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said extending martial law was an option.
President Duterte first declared martial law in Mindanao in May, after terrorists overran Marawi.
Martial law has been extended since then.
It is slated to lapse again in December.
